How to use

- Add nails every 30-50 cm along joins and overlaps.

Pins mulch film as well as weed mat
The same wide cap spreads pressure across thin plastic mulch film without puncturing or tearing it, keeping sheets flat and fully sealed against the soil.
Holds shade net and frost fleece too
Works just as well on woven shade net and frost fleece, gripping mesh and lightweight fabric alike so covers stay anchored through wind and watering.
Tip: Working in firmer, well-settled soil? Our 6 inch weed mat nails cost the same and are easier to push in by hand. For extra-soft or windy sites, pair with our galvanized U-pins.
Pairing with a weed mat roll? See our 0.6 m, 1 m or 1.5 m weed mat rolls.
FAQs
What’s the difference between 6 inch and 7 inch weed mat nails?
Both share the same wide cap and barbed shank design. The 7 inch nail has an extra inch of shank, so it reaches past a loose, sandy or freshly tilled top layer into firmer soil below – useful on open, windy sites. The 6 inch nails are easier to push in by hand and work well in firm, well-settled garden soil. Price is the same either way.
How many weed mat nails do I need per roll?
Use the spacing in the how-to-use steps above – a nail every 1-1.5 m along the edges and every 30-50 cm along joins and overlaps. A single 0.6 m, 1 m or 1.5 m roll typically needs one to two packs of 100, with more on loose, sandy or windy sites where tighter spacing holds better.
Are these weed mat nails rustproof?
Yes. They’re moulded from UV-stabilised polypropylene, not metal, so there’s no rust or staining and they’re safe to handle bare-handed even after years outdoors.
Can these nails be used for mulch film and shade net too?
Yes. The wide flat cap works on any thin outdoor fabric – weed mat, mulch film, shade net, frost fleece, drip irrigation pipe and tarpaulin all pin down the same way.
How deep should weed mat nails be pushed into soil?
Push until the cap sits flush against the fabric, usually most of the 18 cm length in average soil. Tap gently with a mallet in harder ground rather than forcing it, so the cap doesn’t punch through the fabric.
